Hosting Setup Guide net10's customer support never stops. If you do
not find the answer to your questions please call us at (800) 338-6192 or e-mail us support@net10.net.
First, send email to support@net10.net
with the words Activate Website in the subject header. Your web directory will be
activated within 24 hours. You'll receive a confirmation via email that your web directory
is active, at which point you may upload your pages.
In order to FTP your web pages up to us, set your host to "ftp.yourdomainname.xxx".
Enter your regular net10 user name and password.
There is no need to set a host directory, but you may want to set up a profile that
sets the local directory to the folder where your web pages are kept.
Once you're logged on, you are in your home directory. Your web files and sub
directories go right there. They no longer go in a "public_html" subdirectory.
Your default page must be named default.aspx. default.asp,
default.htm, default.html, index.aspx, index.asp, index.html, or index.htm
Naming your default page home.xxx will not work.
CGI is up and running for perl scripts and NT
executables (please read our CGI page before attempting to implement any CGI).
Please do NOT delete your cgi-bin directory even if you do not plan to use it.
Top-Level Web Site
The only real difference between top-level and user-level web sites is that if you go
up a level from your home directory, it won't show in a directory listing. If you "cd
/username" you will get back into your home directory. Most ftp software gives you a
way to manually specify the directory you want to visit. The best advice would be to not
go up to the root level when you are working on your site.
